Description

The New Z2 Auto CPAP Machine is an improved version of the Z1 Auto travel CPAP machine. The Z2 has an improved quieter motor with 29% less noise at the air intake than the original Z1.

Small but Powerful, the Z2 APAP machine can flow 4–20 cmH2O of pressure, satisfying the prescribed levels for most obstructive sleep apnea patients. The Z2 also utilizes HDM’s comfort-enhancing Z-Breathe™ technology, a proprietary algorithm that lowers CPAP pressure during exhalation based on your breathing pattern.

No special mask required: The Z2 Auto does not require a special mask or tube for use. You can use your favorite mask as long as it does not have a proprietary connection.

Special Features

  • Lightest travel CPAP Machines: Weighing only 10.4 ounces, small enough to fit in the palm of your hand and conveniently in any suitcase or bag.
  • Auto Start / Auto Stop By Simply placing the mask on your face, the therapy will start when the device senses that you have started to breathe. When the mask is removed or there is a leak detected the Z2 will stop within seconds.
  • Z-Breathe Pressure Relief: Z-Breathe is a comfort feature making it easier to exhale temporarily reducing the pressure during exhalation. This helps a person have a more normal breathing pattern and makes it more comfortable to use. Z-Breathe has 3 settings so you can set it to suit your own personal needs.
  • Ramp Feature: The Z2’s Ramp feature allows you to start your pressure at a lower setting and ramp it up over time to let you adjust more gradually to CPAP therapy.
  • HME – Waterless Humidification: The Z2 comes with a small, portable humidification cartridge called an HME (Heat Moisture Exchanger). Inserted between the hose and the mask, it captures the moisture in the exhaled breath and releases it on the inhaled breath. does not require electricity or water.
  • Reduced Noise: The improved Z2 motor and firmware combination, along with the included Qtube, are designed to minimize both dynamic and static noise at the device and within the mask.
  • Power Supply: When traveling abroad the power supply automatically adjust from 100 to 240 volts. All you need to add is the proper plug adapter for the country you are visiting.
  • Optional Power Shell: The Z2 Auto CPAP is fully compatible with the optional integrated battery system called the PowerShell®. It delivers a full night of cord-free power on a fully-charged battery. The Extended Life battery is a rechargeable lithium ion battery that you can charge during the day for a night’s worth of therapy. The PowerShell is great for travel where power is limited or even off the grid.
  • Nitelog App Download the free Nitelog® mobile app for iOS or Android and sync directly to your device with Bluetooth®. Review your data or share it with your doctor directly from the app.
  • Auto-adjusting pressure: The Z2 measures breathing on a breath-by-breath basis and automatically adjusts to the correct therapy pressure.
  • Approved usage: Z2 Auto CPAP device is approved for use by adults only that are 66 lbs. and above.
  • FAA Compliant.

AirPro Max  – Multi-Night Battery System

The AirPro Max CPAP Battery Charges 3x Faster Than Other CPAP Batteries

The Max battery pack can recharge from 0 to 100% in ten hours. Plus, you’ll get a longer lifespan with the max allowing you to charge, deplete, and recharge your max  up to 5,000 times-most batteries need to be replaced after 500 charge cycles. Both on the road and during an unexpected power outage, the max rechargeable battery has you covered.

One Battery to Power All of Your Devices

The AirPro Max power supply has charging options for almost every device! It features two standard USB ports, a DC charger, and one USB Type-C port. Newer electronic devices may only use the USB Type-C port (found on newer MacBook Pros), while your lightning and micro USB cables will work with the standard USB ports.

Fast-Charging USB Ports for Lightning-Fast Recharging

With over 2 amps of extra power for each USB port, your tablet and mobile devices will charge as much as 300% faster than traditional USB ports! When you connect your device to the Max Lithium Ion Battery Bank, you’ll watch your device rocket from zero to a full battery in under two hours – much faster than the traditional market battery’s three-hour recharge time.

Recharge Your Battery Using the Included DC Car Charger

The included car charger allows you to recharge the battery itself while you’re on the go. It doesn’t connect to your CPAP machine in any way. Plug it into your lighter plug adapter while you’re on the road, and you’ll begin recharging instantly.

WARNINGS

  • Only use the supplied AC and DC charge cord to charge the CPAP battery kit. Use of a different charge cord other than the two supplied may damage the battery bank.
  • Never connect the input charge port and the round main output power port with the provided DC charge cord on the same battery bank. Doing so may damage the battery.
  • Never leave the battery bank unattended for long periods while charging. When charging is complete disconnect the battery bank charge cord from the charge source.
  • For best results, use the DC power cord specific to the individual PAP machine being powered (sold separately). Do not use the AC or DC charge cords (included) to power a PAP machine or other appliance. This may damage the PAP machine, appliance, or battery bank.
  • Do not charge below 32°F. The optimum ambient charge temperature is 40°F – 110°F. F. Do not charge the battery bank if the charge cord or battery bank has obvious damage or if the battery bank appears to be bulging. A bulging battery bank is a potential sign of damaged lithium cells.
  • Do not charge the battery bank if it feels excessively hot. The battery bank should not reach more than 120°F while charging or discharging and should not feel hotter than a warm cup of coffee.

Power Your CPAP Machine Using Your Device’s DC Charging Cable

Most CPAP machines include a DC charging cable that makes it possible to power the CPAP machine from your car’s battery. You’ll need this DC charging cable to connect your CPAP machine to the max.

To connect your CPAP machine to the max, you’ll need to follow these steps:

  1. Connect the lighter plug adapter end of the cable to the max.
  2. Connect the other end of the cable to your CPAP machine. The battery should begin providing power to your CPAP automatically.

How to Charge the AirPro Max

  1. Plug the charging cable into the charge input port and the other end into the power source.
  2. Charging will begin automatically.

Get the Most Out of Your AirPro Max Battery

To get the most run time from your max battery bank we recommend turning off all additional features such as humidity and your heated hose if possible. These features use a lot of power and will draw more energy from the battery bank. PAP machine nightly run times for the max are figured using the average night sleep in the US of seven hours and with the additional features mentioned above turned off.

Power requirements will vary significantly from one PAP machine to the next and with different prescribed pressure settings. We recommend you test your PAP machine with the battery bank before depending on it for emergency or off-grid power.

Storing your AirPro Max Pro Battery

If fully charged, the max battery can be stored for up to a year however we recommend charging and using your battery every 3 months to keep it healthy.

  1. Verified Customer

Excellent – works like a dream (pun intended). Quiet, easy to travel with

  2. Verified Customer

Nice portable size. It is not that loud. This will make traveling easier. I won’t have to lug my main machine everywhere

  3. Verified Customer

This is my second Z series travel cpap, and I got a second one because I liked the first one so much!! I only gave it four stars because they still haven’t worked out the noise issues. Having said that, I hasten to add that the noise isn’t really bad at all, it’s just that I fail to understand why there’s any noise at all!! I truly love that it’s so small

  4. Verified Customer

Only tried it a couple of nights…works well. Was concerned about the noise, but with the included muffler, it was not really noticeable to me, although I do have a little hearing loss at my age (70). The transfer of data using bluetooth seemed to be a bit slow. The only drawback I can see is during long term useage and having to replace the humidifier module at about $5 per unit. They are supposedly only good for 5-7 nights. Don’t have the optional battery since it is a bit pricey. There is a 12 Volt adapter available, but it’s listed to charge the battery. Don’t know why it wouldn’t run the cpap too.

  5. Verified Customer

The size of the machine is as advertised and will be very convenient for travel. Set up is intuitive. I was surprised the setting is 4cm as that is not my prescription however it is advertised to change to the needed pressure through out the night. It is louder than my home machine but not so much as to disturb sleep. Got what I asked for, reasonable price. Would recommend to others

  6. Verified Customer

The Z2 unit itself is great. I was worried it would fall off the nightstand but when used with the battery pack it’s heavy enough to stay put. The only major downside is the number of parts. I fear that travelling with this many separate parts something could get lost or broken. My biggest fear is breaking or losing the small plastic adapter that connects the unit to the first hose. I wish it was like other units, that connect the hose directly to the unit. Otherwise, unit works well and is quiet. A second, minor concern is having to remove the Battery pack so it doesn’t discharge, but that’s a minor inconvenience that takes up space.

  7. Verified Customer

The Z2 is a replacement for my Z1 that needed repair. I’ve tried it out and love the fact that all of the parts from the Z1 fit the Z2. I especially appreciate the upgraded feature of the auto start – just like my regular auto pap at home. I have been pleasantly surprised by home well the HE devices work. The Z1 has lots of travel miles on it and I’m expecting the same great sleep with my new Z2

  8. Verified Customer

I am very happy with my Z2! My travelling has become so much easier. I did not have any issues with machine or setup. It is a bit louder than my regular machine however it did not inhibit my sleep at all.

  9. Verified Customer

Love my new Z2…perfect size and absolutely quiet. Use it on the road and at home. Travels well! Worth every penny spent

  10. Verified Customer

This is an outstanding product for travel use – it is so small, works perfectly, and is very quiet, so I am very pleased.

  11. Verified Customer

Was expecting the only benefit from the Z2 to be its size for travel. The machine is much quieter than the reviews said. In fact it is quieter than my full sized ResMed machine. The Heat Moisture Exchange Unit is great. You don’t have to mess with water and the is no moisture on my face when I wake up. Downside is that you have to replace them! I would definitely purchase the Z2 Auto again

  12. Verified Customer

I’ve used a cpap for many years and needed a smaller travel cpap. After reading reviews and features I decided on a HDM Z2 in part because of its compatibility with standard hose and masks. My (lifetime) prescription was already on file at cpap.com . I received the box several days after ordering. The unit is small and quiet. With the Qtube muffler it is *very* quiet. I’m considering purchasing a 6′ hose instead of the 4′ one included. Also plan to buy a small padded case for the device, power supply, hose and mask because it did not come with one. I’ve tested for a couple of nights and am so far very pleased

  13. Verified Customer

EXCELLENT UNIT TO TRAVEL WITH , BARELY CAN HEAR IT. C

  14. Verified Customer

I loved the size but it was a little noisy.

  15. Verified Customer

I never before even considered taking a machine with me when I traveled. This is small, light and easy to take anywhere

  16. Damo

Normally i run my old machine from a generator of a night when camping and this has made life so much easier! It’s so small and convenient and having the solar is really handy. I find it normally does take a day to fully charge up the battery but the battery seems to run for close to a few nights on a single charge. It also has a USB port on the solar and the battery so i often find plugging in my phone to it just for a quick charge. The pack also has a cable for charging the battery from a 12v source so sometimes if we are driving long distances i charge the battery whilst driving. The machine is quieter than i was expecting and my wife thinks it’s actually quieter than my full size unit. I have two masks a P10 from resmed and P30i from resmed and i did find that the Z2 was a bit noisier when using the P30i which has a hollow mask frame so i often use the P10 with it. Love the carry bag. Highly recommend this pack if you like camping

  17. Verified Customer

So far this product is meeting all my expectations. It is quiet, easy to use and provides all the stats I need. I probably would use it full time if I had an humidifier with it. At this point it is my go to travel machine. I noticed one small glitch this morning. When crossing months it didn’t seem to record data properly

  18. Verified Customer

I have had a Z1 for 6 years. It was great for traveling. Recently I purchased the Z2 model. The Z2 is a significant update to the Z1. I have used the Z2 once so far and I am more than pleased with the Z2. The auto feature is really nice. The machine seems quieter than the Z1. I am looking forward to using the Z2 for years to come

  19. Verified Customer

    works well on first night.

  20. Verified Customer

Great product to bring on your travels. Tucks away in any bag.

  21. Verified Customer

Product seems to be just what I needed for traveling. Very small compact unit.

  22. Verified Customer

I’ll give this product an overall review a 4 out of 5 stars for quietness, 5 stars for it’s size and convenience. Overall the product works as intended and expected the level of therapy is the same as my bulky home unit. I purchased this unit for traveling if you don’t mind the white noise but enjoy the convenience and space in your suitcase then this product is for you.

  23. Verified Customer

I had a first generation Z1 and although pleased with the compact size, I was disappointed with the noise level (as was my wife…). The Z2 delivers the same travel convenience and is quiet enough to even use daily. A significant improvement and definitely worth the investment for travelers

  24. Verified Customer

So far the Z2 has worked well, just as advertised. It’s great for travel!!

  25. Verified Customer

Very very satisfied with product And the company . Highly recommend.

  26. Verified Customer

Good for traveling due to small size and working fine. Strongly recommended to travelers

  27. Verified Customer

Run on 12 volt. Don’t need converter. Soooo quiet. HME provides moisture

  28. Verified Customer

I purchased the Z2 Auto CPAP for my husband who is a frequent traveler. It arrived the next day as I was packing up to leave by noon. I wanted to make sure that he would be able to operate it so I called CPAP, and they talked me thru set up and setting , 3 times????. He LOVES IT! I call it “Mini Me”. We have 2 other employees who have purchased them as well. We give the Z2 5+

  29. Max

Love my camping pack! Took it around Australia and it never missed a beat. Was able to get to some super remote locations with the solar and the battery itself runs for a couple of nights which is incredible considering how small it is. It’s a little challenging getting all the equipment and mask in the bag but even still it’s a very cool little package and well priced compared to the other machines. Thank you

  30. Jacqui Enchelmaier (verified owner)

After doing quite a lot of research into Travel CPAP’s and discussions with my health provider, I bought this travel package and I couldn’t be happier. I watched the set up video on YouTube, which made it simple and easy to get ready to use – https://youtu.be/nXYOUC1UMA4. The devices is light and once everything is packed in the travel case its also compact. We are also campers and with the battery power lasting for approx 3-4 days I never have to worry about charging it with so many options: charging from its own solar blanket, from the cigarette lighter socket in the car or camper, or the USB ports.
If you are looking for a Travel CPAP, don’t look any further. Highly recommend this one and cannot understand why I haven’t bought one sooner.

  31. Verified Customer

Great size and ease of use. Length of hose is fine. I did not get a battery unit. The noise is reportedly the same as my air sense but seems a little louder than that. I use white noise anyway so no big deal to me. The real sell for this was the travel size and ease of use. I travel very frequently and this will be much easier than lugging my air sense around. Still new so have many nights of testing ahead of me. So far so good

  32. Verified Customer

I have been using my new Z2 Auto Travel CPAP Machine for 2 weeks and love it! It is so quiet and lightweight. I can’t wait to take it with me traveling. I should have bought this years ago.

  33. Verified Customer

I bought the Z2 Auto Travel CPAP Machine about 6 months ago for use on an overseas trip. My regular machine just takes up too much space in my luggage. Before I made the purchase, I read all the reviews and I wasn’t sure if it would really work well for me because 1) no humidifier and 2) the filters were expensive. I bit the bullet and made the purchase and I gotta say that I am 100% satisfied with it. I love the small size – it’s abut the size of large TV remote & probably twice as thick. I just place it on my bed each night. The hose is short but with the machine on the bed, it’s plenty long enough. It came with a MUFFLER because some people claimed it was too loud. I didn’t like the Muffler because when it is connected to your hose it is uncomfortable to sleep with and it is heavy. I removed this piece and discovered the machine is not loud at all -but that is just me. (no louder than my full-size CPAP) Now I hesitated about this purchase because of the cost of filters….$5.00 ea. and only good for about 5 days. I mean, why didn’t they make them so you could just pop that sponge out and wash it and re-insert it??? Well let me tell you that is exactly what I did!! I used a skinny, long piece from a water pick (I used the rounded, blunt end) and pushed that sponge right out of the filter housing which is a hard, sealed plastic case. I washed it, and let it air dry. Then I used the same poker and pushed that sponge right back into that hard plastic case. It was easy & it popped right into place. (there are holes on either end of the plastic case. I guess you could use a cotton swab, anything thin & strong enough to push the sponge in and out without damaging it. There are holes on either end of the filter. On one side the opening is larger than the other. I pushed from the small hole through to the larger hole. I only purchased 2 filters because I figured I would only use the machine when I traveled or went camping. These are good big sponges so I figure they will last for awhile as long as I remove, clean and sterilize them (in vinegar water). I love my Z2 Auto Travel CPAP so much that I am using it almost every night, it’s so comfortable. One more thing….I haven’t missed the humidifier at all. I thought for sure I would have a dry throat in the morning but never did. I am so glad I made this purchase. Now I am saving up to buy the battery that goes with it. LOVE MY Z2 AUTO TRAVEL CPAP!!!!

  34. Verified Customer

Nice machine, quick and simple to assemble/disassemble. I’m sure I’ll get a lot of use from it once it’s safe to travel again.

  35. Verified Customer

Used machine for 4 days, couldn’t ask for better service. Noise level is low and size is very good for travel. I would recommend for people looking for a good travel unit.

  36. Verified Customer

This works ok, certainly not as good as my home machine, but with it’s small size it will make it great for traveling

  37. Verified Customer

I tried a different travel CPAP (Transcend) but it was just so loud that it kept both me and my husband awake. So, I was a bit skeptical about trying the Z2. I was very pleasantly surprised at how quiet the Z2 really is. Its compact size is amazing. I am very glad I purchased this little gem!

  38. Verified Customer

I use my home machine with a 12 volt adapter in my truck camper. This works fine, but I wanted to get back into backpacking and needed a smaller lighter machine. I also was looking for a 12 volt machine. I think the z2 is the only one that is 12 volt. Most others are 24 volt. It should use less battery than my home unit The machine works well and I purchased the medstrom 12 volt battery to go with this machine, instead of the proprietary z2 battery system for a few reasons(see review on battery page). The features of the z2 are the same as my home machine and performs the same. It is a bit louder, but not bad at all. the supplied muffler tube helps alot in quieting it. It dosnt have a humidifier. Most travel machines dont. U cant use the heater and humidifier on battery anyway. It would use 4 or 5 times the battery if you did. So I dont use that feature while camping anyway. I find I dont use the humidifier or heater in the summer months becouse of the humidity level in the air. I did purchase the small inline humidifier filter thing, but haven’t tried it yet. Very happy with the system. With the machine, battery, mask, hoses and cords I was a litle over 3 pounds. I was able to get 3 nights with this system all 3 nights were 8 hours.

  39. Verified Customer

I bought this to replace my old travel cpap. This Cpap far exceeds my expectations! I took it on a weekend trip and found it very quiet and easy to use. I just put it on the bed next to me and the shorter hose was more than long enough. Also I found I didn’t need the extra moisture, it worked great without it.. I am very happy with my purchase!!

  40. Verified Customer

I love to travel and have used a Cpap for over 15 years. My children lived out of the continental US. I bought machines to leave at their homes to avoid the clumsiness of toting a machine through the airport. I have looked at purchasing a mini machine for several years but just couldn’t go that extra step of expenditure. So now I wait until travel is severely curtailed and bite the bullet- go figure! I LOVE IT – the size is great – I was concerned about noise level based on different reviews so specifically selected the Z2 with the help of Steve in customer service. It is white noise if anything. I never camp or backpack so the need for a battery was not priority but maybe later! Don’t wait – you will not regret your purchase

  41. Verified Customer

Love it so far. Whistles a bit but I think I will get over that.

  42. Verified Customer

I purchased to go camping but now use is all the time. Even though I am a Cpap user I have is set to change with my breathing and I feel I sleep better. To me, not any noisier then the machine I have now. I recommend you give it a try

  43. Verified Customer

Previously, I used Z1 auto. Z2 auto is a big improvement of Z!, it is much more quiet. All the bugs of Z1 were rectified.

  44. Verified Customer

It works, but you have to used it for a couple weeks

  45. Verified Customer

I have been using it a week and the size is great. It makes a funny high pitched sound for about 30 seconds when I start but after that QUIET. A big plus, but it does not have a true humidifier and I realized I really prefer the real deal. My mask will not accommodate the self-humidifier using your breath. It works well but like a real humidifier. I am keeping it for travel. It works great and I slept well with it. I recommend it

  46. Verified Customer

I do a lot of RV camping and don’t like to take my home CPAP because of size and possible water mess from the humidifier. I always wanted to try a travel CPAP but have never had luck using one without a humidifier. I saw this one provided humidified air without a water chamber and thought I would give it a try. To my surprise it worked great. Been using it a week straight while camping at the beach and have had no problems. If you have the same concerns as I did, give this one a try.

  47. Verified Customer

This is a nice travel machine, compact with attachments. Not as quiet as a house machine but you should not expect that it would be. For what it is designed to do it does well. I am going to buy another as spare

  48. Verified Customer

Easy to set up and quiet when I was using it. This is so much nicer than packing and toting my regular machine. I’m glad I bought it.

  49. Verified Customer

In an update to my earlier review on the Auto CPAP, I wanted to share with some more testing of the included Q-Tube muffler and Heat Moisture Unit (HEM) and optional extended battery pack based on 4 more days of use.

For the Q-Tube muffler attachment which decreases the sound from the CPAP coming down the hose, it is definitely worthwhile to bring it on a trip with this machine, and it even decreases it nicely with my ResMed AutoSet S9. It makes the sound noticeable quieter. This attachment is supposed to be added between the CPAP adapter and your normal hose, because you want to dampen the extra sound closer to the machine.

For the Heat Moisture Exchange Unit (HEM) attachment which looks like it has blue foam material in a circle in a plastic adapter, and humidifies the air without a humidifier, it actually works very well. I didn’t have a stuffy or dry nose or trouble breathing at night. I used it instead of the Cann-EaseTM Nasal Moisturizing Gel to see how well it worked. With the gel, I have to check the inside of my nose in the morning, to make sure there isn’t any dried gel that looks like long boogers in my nose before I have to go to work. With the HEM, none of that. You add between your mask and your tube, and you could use it with your the CPAP you normally use as well.

On the optional PowerShell’s Extended Life Battery that you could purchase separately, it is supposed to last 8.9 hours with a treatment pressure of 20 cmH20 and a Z-Breath setting of 3. For my trip, I use the Z-Breath setting of 3 with a pressure of 4 cmH20, and it lasted me 4 nights or about 30 hours. Three nights, I used it for about 6 hours per night and one night for 11.5. Each night the battery decreased a bar on the display. It worked for a while even when the battery showed empty. When it was almost empty, it would allow the machine to blow, then it would stop. I would breathe some more in it and it would start again for a few minutes, then it would stop.

One final and important note is that one night, the Auto CPAP would turn briefly then turn off, over and over. The CPAP was not fully in the PowerShell, because I had pushed the release buttons to try and show a friend who small it was but had not seated totally in the shell even though I pushed it in.

Tip: on putting the battery in the PowerShell:
I do find it difficult to remember which way the battery is supposed to face and it does not always go in easily. If you look at the bottom of the white battery case to see the metal contact area and line it up with the right corner when you slide it in the PowerShell, it will help.
