CPAP Masks

CPAP Mask Styles Explained

Pillow / Under the nose masks

Nasal pillow masks have two soft silicone prongs which are worn in the nostrils to deliver air pressure through the nose to the upper airway.

This is the smallest type of mask, and are generally suitable for patients if treatment pressures are not required to exceed 10 – 14cm H2O.

These intranasal masks are also suitable for patients with a beard or moustache, as mask seal can often be an issue with the nasal and full face masks.

Nasal / Cradle Over the nose masks

Nasal masks are worn over the nose with straps around the head. They can be a good alternative to nasal pillows, particularly when higher pressures are required.

Full Face / Hybrid Over the nose & mouth masks

Full face cpap masks cover the nose and mouth enabling the patient to inhale and exhale using either their nose or their mouth.

Full face masks are commonly used by ‘mouth breathers’ who prefer to breathe using their mouth whilst sleeping.
